Roberto Roque, artist and owner of Pluma Avis Domus, will be traveling down from Philly for one day only, December 6, to exhibit at the Logan Hardware Holiday Market. Pluma Avis Domus birdhouses are made of woods from ipe to purple heart and ply. Roberto uses scraps, leftovers, or good pieces from damaged furniture sitting at non profit stores - wood that would likely go to a landfill. In aging they become like the bark on multi-hued trees that cavity dwellers live in, rather than a flat unnatural slab. They are oversized on the exterior but the nesting cavities are to Audubon specs for a variety of birds. Pluma Avis Domus houses are made with food safe waterproof glue, quality screws and solid brass hinges for the clean out panel. They have drainage holes and lips. The painted pieces are from old fences and no stain is used, to allow the woods to show their color. The are coated with spar to further delay the materials trip to a landfill. The interiors have no paint stain or coating.
Please join us on the 6th, and give Roberto a big DC welcome! Here's where you can find him online, if you're unable to make it. You can find out more information about the other participating artists here, and we hope to see you at one of the Holiday Market events!
