People to See: Interesting on Instagram -- January 20, 2016

It's been awhile, but I'm finally moving beyond the holidays and market mode to return to some of my regular posts. Here are some of the people I love to watch on Instagram! First, however, I want to share a recent post from IGer Natalie Freeman of @nataliecreates. She writes:

"Real talk. This is currently the only sliver of my life that is calm, organized or even pretty. I am choosing to share this scene instead of my dirty house, unanswered emails, poorly executed projects or piles of laundry because it reminds me that I am not completely insane."

Can you relate? I sure can. So I say to Natalie and to the wonderful Instagram community, Thank You for sharing moments of beauty with us, no matter what everything else looks like in your lives. We need to be uplifted and inspired, and your online posts are greatly appreciated! Okay, on with the show. :-)

Depressed Cake Shop (@depressedcakeshop)

How amazing -- I've never seen anything like this. Depressed Cake Shop serves to raise awareness of mental health issues. DCS and volunteers all over the world host local pop-ups, selling delicious cakes and other baked goods as a way to begin the dialogue about mental health. The cakes are gray, with just a touch of color to symbolize hope -- what a creative idea. If you'd like to host a pop-up bake sale in your neck of the woods, DCS provides a downloadable toolkit on its website.

Donna Morris, Best Friend in Paris (@bestfriendinparis)

It is wonderful to see Donna on Instagram -- I met her three years ago on the advice of a friend, and I do truly feel like I have a good buddy to hang out with whenever I go to Paris! We went to one of Donna's favorite restaurants in an out-of-the-way, untouristy neighborhood, and I never would have found it without her. Donna finds out what you like to do, the kinds of experiences you'd like to have, and helps to make them happen for you. Also -- she is an excellent shopper. If you want to do some flea market bargaining in Paris, you'll want to have her by your side!

Cat in France (@cat_in_france)

One day -- I'm not quite sure how -- I spiraled down an IG tunnel to discover tons of French expat feeds. Big fun! There are SO many, including @lostincheeseland, @pretavoyager, @cakeboyparis, and of course my fav guy in Paris @davidlebovitz -- but I can't get enough of Cat's luscious pics of life on her farm in Normandy, France.

Cat created Sunday Brocantes, an online shop that is open the first two days of the month, and her foodie workshops will launch in March. Very exciting!

You can check out more of the fabulous people I follow on my IG feed @papertraveler -- and let me know who you love, too!
