Travel Here: Logan Hardware August Summer Market

It is hot, hot, hot in Washington DC, but it's still an excellent time to visit. Many folks are out of town on vacation, so you'll have lots more elbow room!

If you're in the DMV, travel on over to the Logan Hardware August Summer Market on Saturday, August 13, and Sunday, August 14, from 12-5pm. Artists and designers will be there featuring great gifts. Logan Hardware, an Ace Hardware DC store, is located at 1734 14th Street NW.

Liz Hutcheson of Fast Snail Creative Greetings & Design will be on hand Saturday and Sunday, offering cards and gifts illustrating her unique Washington DC perspective.

Liz writes of her Lincoln Love Wedding Card, "The inscription on Mary Todd Lincoln's wedding ring read, 'A.L. to Mary, Nov. 4, 1842. Love is eternal.' This sentiment inspired Liz's image of a Lincoln Memorial aglow with glorious color and with hearts blooming along its front steps."

Be sure to say Hi to JC Smith of the Bailiwick Clothing Company, and check out his awesome DC-themed t-shirts, tanks, and caps. He'll be at the Market on Saturday and Sunday.

Paola Bernacchi of Palo Borracho will showcase DC designs and beautiful floral illustrations on Saturday. Her giftware ranges from baby bibs and art prints to DC wine glasses, beer mugs, and more.

Need a wedding gift? Anjali Sunderam of Sovereign Treasures is bringing beautiful new hand-painted tabletop pieces on Saturday, as well as her colorful henna-inspired (my fav!) dinnerware and trivets.

Hurray for yummy sweets! Ruby Scoops is a local and online retailer of premium small batch ice creams, sorbets, sherbets, and desserts, all handcrafted and scratch made in Union Kitchen by Chef & Owner, Rabia Kamara. You can get your ice cream fix at the Market on Sunday.

Allison White, Co-Founder of the Scout Cart, is new to the Logan Hardware Market; she will be on hand Sunday to demonstrate how much easier your city (and suburban) shopping can be with this fabulous, high-quality personal shopping cart!

There will be lots to see, so perhaps you'll be able to stop by both days. Again, the Logan Hardware August Market will be held on Saturday and Sunday, August 13-14 at Logan Hardware, 1734 14th Street NW, Washington DC, from 12-5pm. Hope to see you there!

It's All About the Love -- Come Feel It!

Hi, Friends! Please join me at Logan Hardware's Valentine's Pop-Up Market on February 6th and 7th (Saturday and Sunday) from 10am-3pm. I'm bringing handmade greeting cards, prints, and other paper goodies to share with you. Some folks try to ignore Valentine's Day because they think it's a made up holiday -- I see it as another wonderful celebration where one can connect, touch hearts, and demonstrate care and kindness to the people closest to them. So... I hope to see your bright, shining faces this weekend. My dear friend, Liz Hutcheson of Fast Snail, will have her lovely paper products and gifts the following weekend (February 13th and 14th), please be sure to stop back by to visit her, too! See you soon, dear ones. :-)

Creativity, Unleashed -- What a Workshop!

We had a fun, festive time at the Valentine Collage Workshop last Thursday at Logan Hardware on 14th Street in Washington, DC. Six attendees spent their time cutting and pasting to their hearts' content (pardon the pun). We all enjoyed the colorful, luscious papers, tapes, and ephemera, and we also loved meeting and spending time with like-minded crafters. What a beautiful evening!

It was especially great for me to see the paper combinations the crafters used. They all had different perspectives, and I enjoyed seeing the colors/textures they put together.

Gina used her prompt, a quote on paper to help guide her toward our "Heart & Soul" theme, right on her collage. So did many of the other attendees.

Jack's lovely work. He used 3D dots to build up the height of the multiple hearts.

Kay's playful collage, full of life and laughter.

Kim, a wonderful collage artist (I love collecting her cards!), had her way with words.

And I loved how Robbie used the dancing blue fish in her work!

Kristin's beautiful card contained a surprise...

Jack made a second card, also with paper elements inside.

Robbie's second card made use of silhouettes. Nice!

Want to join us for our next workshop? Email me at papertraveler [at] gmail [dot] com, or join the mailing list. It's gonna be fabulous!
