It all began with a visit to Miss Pixie's Furnishings & Whatnot, a great vintage store on 14th Street in Washington, D.C. I discovered some crumbling old envelopes, and as I turned them over in my hands I wondered how they might look as greeting cards. They turned out to be pretty neat! I now look for vintage envelopes wherever I travel, and have found some great ones in the Shenandoah Valley, New York, and online.
My heart did handstands when I found this envelope online; I used to work in the very same building as an administrative assistant in commercial lending for Provident National Bank, now PNC Bank. William Peace, one of the lawyers of the firm, was apparently a Cornell grad. You won't find a bank on the ground floor of the Land Title Building any more; the place where I used to chat with the tellers now houses an f.y.e. store.
Digitally printed, originally created from a vintage envelope. Card size 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 in., printed on heavy stock.
